Water pump
I have an 2010 XK, 54K miles, as far as I can tell from the service records records it has it's original water pump.
I here a lot on here about the problems connected with this item, would like to hear from others who have not experienced this and the miles on their Jag.
Don't know if I'm lucky, living on borrowed time, or the problem isn't that bad.

The only absolute way to know if any water pump in our cars is original is if the owner is the first and original owner. Not every replacement of the notorious water pump on the 5.0 will be documented in its history.
Had mine done at 52k miles, it was the original, albeit a 2014 one, not leaking huge amounts, just weeping. Perhaps not helped by the previous owner or selling garage mixing fluids so it was a bit of a gloopy mess in my coolant system that took 4 flushes with water to remove it all. Then moved to waterless coolant, so hopefully not issues I'll have in the future.

I was advised to get an oem pump ( for 2x the $ ) and I did before reading about the pump issues.
The one from Rockauto is as good or better for a lot less $.
I would replace the pump before it went out, and it will!
ditto, again. about the same mileage, uncertain history as i am second owner, likely will have multiple things serviced altogether in the near future, and probably will just have it done too anyway.
I remember when purchasing my 2010 about 7 years ago, many XKs I was looking at, were coming off of lease and their history did show on some of water pump replacement in the 15-25,000 mile range. Again, if the owner is not the original, there is a fair chance the pump had been changed. Unfortunately, if it was not the latest version, replacement will be inevitable.

I just wanted to toss this out there in case anyone is interested. Years ago with my 77 Ferrari 308 the usually went thru a WP every 10K miles. So when I go my 1st leaking one trying to find one and at a reasonable cost (they must have been made of gold) I searched and found a WP rebuilder. Appears he was known by my F group and had a great reputation. The name of the business is "Flying Dutchman" . He rebuilt my pump upgrading to late model bearings and seals and sent it back looking brand new. He also told me if it failed within the next 100,000 miles that he would replace it. I installed it and 20,000 miles later I sold the car and no sign of leakage. Some might want to talk to him and see what he has.

I'm going to file this away.

Just having fun as the top down weather is here. Hard to describe how well it performs but it's like driving on rails . I don't think I could handle anymore HP. The 510 I had in the XKR doesn't even come close to the 495 in this car. It's like a rocket Hey enjoy the ride.
