Default We set a record 1/4mi time while letting go off the gas! Fastest 5.0 XF XK R and S ca

Posted this on the XF forums but since it applies to our cars as well thought would share here as well :

I don't like to brag but I do feel sense of accomplishment and have to share with you guys! Countless hours of tweaking the tune on this 2010 XF Supercharged (mods are: upper pulley, decat, ) have paid off. We set a record for the fastest quarter mile time on an XF XFR XFRS , XKR XKRS 5.0 cars while letting off gas !! This particular track had a 13 second and faster requirement for a fire jacket . He had no fire jacket and none to be found at the track. So thinking was to let go of the gas by the end of the quarter mile to try not to beat 13 seconds. well he still went much faster as had not much drag racing experience and had to go home as they kicked them off the track but in the process set the fastest quarter mile time for these cars lol ..11.4 while letting off gas!! Time would have been on par with the other car which ran 11.2 and I think with better 60ft might even be in the 10s!!!more to come......

That's fast. But it's an XF, who cares (in here)?

"a record for the fastest quarter mile time on an XF XFR XFRS , XKR XKRS 5.0 cars" is quite a statement, all over the world, or at that track?

And please don't start with "I don't like to brag but" ;-)

well a 2010 XF supercharged has a curb weight of 4300 pounds. ignoring convertibles, that's like 400 to 500 pounds heavier than all of our XK8s, XKs, XKRs, XKRSes all the way up to 2015 depending on the model you're looking at. and it's basically the same drivetrain (of course the larger weight differences would be by comparing against an NA-engine base XK, but still)

so that is pretty sweet!

Great accomplishment. Glad to see there are people still out there that are passionate about Jaguars and looking to expand their ranges of performance.

Alex, two things:
1 congratulations that is quite some performance
2 Having read many of your posts over the years you are not what I would call shy in the boasting department, but maybe I'm judging from the proverbial armchair.

That is very cool, heck of an accomplishment. Yes it is relevant when you are clearly stating the relevance in powertrain, brand, and passion for speed so good post.

Your opponent had a 0.012 reaction time! That's impressive. If you had a better reaction time it would have been a much closer race. You were almost half a second slower than him off the line.

What was the other guy driving?

no Sir. No nos, meth or any other power adder. Just crappy 91ca gas with a few gallons of e85 per full tank on top to keep things a little cooler

Thanks! I believe you had the same 1.7 60 ft when you did your best time on your XKR ? The tires that were used are Mickey Thompson's SS street.

Close. I did a PB of 1.756 60' on the same run as my 11.567 which just shows that it is all in the launch. Sticky tyres like the Mickey Thompson's would help make it a lot more consistent and I would love to see what my car would do on them.

I still kick myself that the day I did the 126.04 mph I backed off on almost half the the runs because I was racing and didn't want to break out. The car was going particularly well that day with 4 runs over 125 mph and 3 in the 11's even though I had backed off.

On a side note, I found a parcel in the post when I got home tonight and inside was the runner up trophy for coming second in the overall points from last season!

The mods are basically just the XKR-S x-pipe, smaller S/C pulley and the tune, which came from Old Jaguar in Australia (Cambo on this forum).
