To avoid preparing my taxes, I decided to install the MR.12volt blue tooth car play adapter into my head unit. Although there are some tutorials out there, Circumnavigator has one and there are others. None dealt with '15 coupes. So I decided if I could do it without relying on the existent tutorials. The answer is yes, the tutorials are good to watch beforehand to get a sense of the job. But due to model year differences, stuff wasn't exactly the same. It is best imho to just work slowly with what you actually have rather than try to translate from one car to another. For example the MOST connector on the usb module is different than what is in the tutorials. and the location is different than the convertibles...anyhoo I made a video of the relevant differences in the install (if anyone is interested) and did the whole conversion in about 3.5 hours. Btw, the unit functions great, it is very well done product. The only glitch is in Carplay mode, the heater controls readout are in Celsius, I emailed the company and got a reply back, that at this time it doesn't support Fahrenheit while in Carplay mode.. The workaround is to hit the home button then adjust the temp and Viola!, freedom units.
If you post a link to the video of the differences, I will link to it in the description in mine for those with newer coupes.
I went to visit my Jag today, hopped in and found the headliner touching my head!! I laughed out loud. I think unlike some of you in the US who had the cold snap and leaking gaskets, the humidity in NZ just killed the headliner! Took me an hour (being careful!) to remove the trims from the car. Mainly all clips and a few screws for the vanity mirrors and the jacket hooks etc.
Going to take it to an upholsterer and see what the damage is. After that it's down to the wheel shop to get my wheels refurbished.
Will there be ay warning lights that the CAT system is not working??
As per Jahummer insight (he's running bc racing coilovers) if you pull fuse f14 in left hand foot-well no codes will be thrown on the dash .
Finally put down some more km's on the B4's and I'm thinking my old shocks must have permanently defaulted to bone - jarring mode ...I'm extremely impressed with the new shocks it's exactly the ride quality I was chasing

So you went with the Sports shock vs the comfort??
It all comes down to your driving style if you want it more relaxed go the comfort shocks.
Including postage I was all in around 900aud
These are the sports shocks I went -
bilstein 24067447 - fronts (green)
bilstein 24067454 - rears (green)
now for the questions!
how many miles did you have on the originals?
did you have rattles?
i fyes, did they rattle more when cold and then lessen as you drove?
did you replace to top mounts?
did you consider the BC racing coil overs?
thanks for your time in answering
Haha
now for the questions!how many miles did you have on the originals? - Alot !!
did you have rattles? - Yes !!
i fyes, did they rattle more when cold and then lessen as you drove? - Tyres didn't make a difference the shocks were well worn
did you replace to top mounts? - Yes and insulators for a freshen up ( xk and xj are interchangeable)
did you consider the BC racing coil overs? - Came extremely close to pulling the trigger however after speaking to bc they suggested avoiding as my main goal was OEM ride quality
thanks for your time in answering 💪🏽

Michelin Pilot.... the absolute worst tire I've ever owned. They literally tried to kill me, they threw off large chunks of tread down to the cord in less than 3,000 miles. Never in my life would I take any Michelin tire even if I was paid to do so.
I looked at mine as they were cracked and worn and a mix brand of tyres, now wanting to really blow £1000 for a set of tyre had a shop around found some lesser know brand on Black circles which I found a bunch of other Jag/BMW and merc drivers had found good. Total cost including fitting was around £400. I have treated them like a total A*hole and they grab and grip slightly less so in the wet and when I hit a patch of oil in the wet that was a 'fun' Experience but they did grab and grip and save me from leaving the road once through it. Done a bunch of miles and are going well. My local fitter rack was filled with the same brand which others had bought for their cars. Said he heard good things about them.
