Yesterday I washed my XKR, and today I had the wife help me use that CRC Intake Valve and Turbo Cleaner stuff. I don't have idea one if it did any good, or will over time, but it took ten minutes and didn't cost much at all.
I'll probably do it again in six months or so, just cuz.
NOW, I have to do an oil change! Oh, and I have a new set of rear rotors I got last year, guess I'll change the brake fluid in conjunction with the rotor swap.

 

V nice, the carbon mirror covers will I think look good on my white car with black pack, I may instead have the current ones, the side gills and bonnet vents hydro dipped.

As to the wheel nuts I'm a convert as got my set 18 months ago, was lucky as picked up a new set on The Bay of E for around £80 inc deliver ($97 USD) will post up the jag part number so any interested can search for em

 

After clearance to drive from my doctor the wife and I took the XK out for a short spin that turned into a 4 hour tour through the mountains. Today it gets a good wash but what thrill of a top down day!
Oh, and it was even better since I was the one behind the wheel for a change. lol

I have searched the Net for the cheapest price and searching for now 2 Months and the cheapest was as I payed.
That was a shop from the UK with 159£ and shipping of 24,90£ to Austria...thats are 216€.

Changed the oil and filter today. Due to family medical issues, I didn’t get to change it last year, and barely drove it. Checked my records, yup, only 624 miles in almost 2 years.

 

I swapped the stock XKR mid pipe with a 2007 XK mid pipe. Combined with the Mina back exhaust, I'm happy to report a deeper exhaust note and, at least in my perception, a better response at early throttle.

 

Smart key arrived at the local dealer and they programmed it today. Service manager is a client of my wife’s so she comp’d the programming cost😃. Good peace of mind to have the spare.
Emergency key still on order as has to be cut at the UK factory.
And happy to have a nice puddle of A/C condensate under the car so the drain is working well!

 

Changed the oil (pennzoil ultra platinum) and filter, air filters and cabin filter. While I was under the car, inspected the front suspension which all looked good.
And received a rebate check from the dealer I bought the car from who wasn’t able to obtain the spare smart key from the previous owner. This paid for the above maintenance and the spare key I got last week.

Topped up the A/C refrigerant with this stuff from the local NAPA store. Not too bad to get the engine LH intake plumbing off (and on, off , on again) for access to the LP port by the fire wall. Smaller hands would have helped for sure. 1/2 can made a big improvement in cooling as warm weather is here😎




Also changed the rear oil differential. Used Valvoline which meets the M2C-192A spec.



Tools were 3/8” breaker bar and giant syringe. The breaker bar gave barely over 1/4 turn on the fill plug in the tight space so was able to remove the plug a very little at a time. No way my ratchet would fit unfortunately.





A good bit of black crud and some more obvious swarf on the fill plug magnet.




Syringe worked well to remove old oil and refill with fresh. Tube was flexible enough to wiggle into the bottom of the diff and stayed on the syringe nipple during the refill (what a mess if it had come off😧.)


I got about 1.1 liter out so figured that was pretty good as refill spec is 1.2 liter. Nasty looking stuff!





Old oil had about 29k miles on it and 12 years old. Definitely makes me feel better to have fresh oil in the diff so worth the effort today.

Finished painting the calipers and installing new 'R' decals. Big improvement over the faded stuff that was on there.

 

Very nice job! What paint did you use?

 

Just some brush-on stuff from a brand called 'Armour Coat', I've only ever seen it here in Canada. I did the calipers on my old Mercedes with it and it looked great for the 10+ years I owned the car, figured I'd stick with what I know works.

Thanks, I did them on the car, used a small (3/4") artists brush so I was able to keep it off the parts I didn't want painted.

Thanks Sean. Yeah, this year was looking up, then Covid-19 locked us down. That sucks, but everyone is staying healthy, so that's all that matters at the moment.

 

It's a 5.0l XK. I will be getting the tune from AlexJag. I will write it up exhaustingly and ad naseum I assure you.
