Default What is this part?

I just picked up my car from the mechanic. I had new front shocks installed.

The mechanic hands me this part and says that the bushing on one end was bad, and the other end was not connected.

What is this and where can I buy them?

Not definitive, but it looks like a front sway bar end link.

That's a new twist.

You pick your car up from the garage and, as you're driving away, the mechanic hands you a part and says "This bit was worn out so we didn't bother fitting it".

Height sensor uses a bent piece of wire, not a link.

It's hard to see the scale , however my car does have a link on the height sensor that looks like that . I don't have a bent piece of wire on them front or back .
Albeit I think it a little odd the person doing the work on the car does not know where it was ,and what it is .
