I am in need of the Dash Board Air Vent. Defroster grille for the right hand side
This is for my 2008 XKR 150

Anybody know where I can get this, I tried salvage yards but they all said they would only sell me the whole vehicle and not a part from it

 

Keep an eye on eBay, odds and ends do pop up there occasionally, and if you can find out the part number, it will help your search immensely.

 

Check with "Boone" at Welsh Jag in OH. He's gotten me some pretty minor bits that were missing on my '08 XK-R.
BTW, did the grill fins break? Have a pic? Mine was missing the pull tab.

I have tried for months to find the vents Jag doesnt list them seems you have to buy the whole dash to get them on the 07 up XK So If you find a supply let me know

 

Could not Welsh Jag help? It's true, you need to replace the whole vent section, as I recall.

 

You only have to buy the centre vent unit but they are around $150.

 

I think by defroster vent he means the ones right up at the base of the windscreen, they aren't listed as a separate item.

 

Correct the one next to the windscreen

 

Was looking through sites to see, but as far as i am aware the vent is part of the dash, so not available on its own. Best bet is a salvage yard or e-bay.

 

If it is in 2 pieces, will the other side clip out, it would have a part number underneath, maybe is is a fixed item.

I didn't find any separate

 

I have looked far and wide since I repaired my dash a year and a half ago, to no avail. I pulled the one over the steering wheel recently because it had cracked when the dash was repaired and was not glued back together well. I was more careful and while if you look from outside the car through the windshield you can notice it a little bit, it's not much, and I can live with it. For the X100, you can find those defroster vents all over, but not the X150.

 

Remarkably, I found a solution. I lost the RH vent, no idea how. But my dentist of all people, made me one and it seems perfect. He actually made 2 LH & 2 RH as spares, if anyone wants one.

Curious: is he using a plastic "printer"? Any specs on the plastic material and suitability for the unconditioned vehicle compartment environment?

If you are referring to the defroster grill (bottom of the windshield), I'm interested. Are both left and right available? I'd take one of each. I presume the color is black? Please advise. Thanks.

Hey @jagguy 66 - Though it's not clear who you're addressing, the guy I think you're trying to reach had an X-Type, he posted 4 times in total, his domain was in Romania, last posted November of 2022, and you prolly should remove your phone number from your post. Reach out to @TexasTraveler . Great contributor. If he's still willing and around, he made some metal ones. I have them in my dash.
