XK 2007 antenna replacement
Miles I know that you posted this antenna mast replacement 9 years ago but Thank You so much. I just bent the antenna mast on my 2007 XKR and searched all the forums and this was the only link that explained how to do it.
So thank you so much for taking the time and posting the procedure.

Andy:
You're welcome! That's exactly why I posted it. Yes, we still have the car with a working antenna! Enjoy!

Allow me to add my thanks for posting the instructions.
I need to replace the bent antenna on our XK8 and I dreaded trying to remove everything inside the boot to get to the assembly.
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to you and yours

I purchased a replacement antenna mast from TheAntennaSource.com and used Qwickkitty's instructions to install the mast.
I was able to get the motor to grab the cable and retract it, but only to where there's about 6" still outside the assembly.
The length of the notched cable is the same as the old antenna, so I'm assuming there's no broken piece that would require disassembling the antenna housing to remove it.
Any suggestions so I don't have to visit a local stereo shop?
UPDATE
Local stereo shop says about two hours of labor @ $150/hour. I looked at taking the motor out, but there's a hydraulic pump right in front of it.
I'm starting to lean towards capping the hole in the fender and listening to Sirius and BT from my phone.

A couple of things.
1. if you’re certain that its installed properly, can you slightly “help” the antennae down during the retraction process? I believe replacement process is listed in the tech manual…. I’ll have a look shortly.
2. The sirius antennae is not the telescoping antennae.
3. I suspect properly removing the antennae and patching the hole will cost much more than the quote you’ve been given for installation.
Fwiw, the original antennae on my car works perfectly fine.
cheers.

Thinking of just dropping the new antenna in, securing it and then pulling the fuse to keep it down at all times
Lucky fellow. 😁🍺🍺

I guess if you don’t want to take the whole thing apart to check for a broken piece, you could take the new ‘cable’ back out, cut off six inches and put it back in.
The hydraulic pump in front of the antennae looks like a pain to remove.
I pulled the fuse to keep it down and can still pick up some FM signals.
I was going to do exactly this on my 2007 XK, and I acquired the parts needed for it, but then I totaled my 2007 XK. If anybody wants to have the parts to make this upgrade send me a DM.
what I have done was replace the old genuine mast with an aftermarket new one bought from ebay and then as per the local dealership advice disconnected the antenna withiut removing the fuse.
Hope this might help you
I've got the same problem. Seller somehow jammed the damaged mast so it's not removable. One set of instructions shows pump removal thru the access port (trunk panels not removed) but includes removing the cover plate and disconnecting lines. Just 10mm nuts and several allen screws hold it in place. Wonder if removing trunk panels means I could simply move the hydraulic pump enough to access the motor? Comments appreciated!

Grommet off, nut off. Twists easily but just will not slid out. Ran a cable down the tube. There's something jammed in there. Even so, the section of the mast that's left should slide out. Motor works but my inspect cable doesn't move.
Hockey Steve:
Just saw your post. You might just try removing the mast and repeating the install process. If you're certain there's no broken piece of the old mast in there, it should continue fully in.
