So what sort of improvements can I gain with these windblockers? Can you read a book comfortably (as the passenger!) with the top down on the highway?

 

I don't know about that. But it sure cuts down on buffeting and enables driving with the top down in cooler weather.

 

Also depends on the height of the passenger. A smaller person will have no problem at all. And a book, being further down anyways, shouldn't be a problem either way.

I love my Adamesh deflector, so easy to setup and remove as needed. Also not as invasive as others. The only think I noticed is that (at least since I have the XKR), very fast starts will make it fold down. A small thing.

Also, things in the back seat stay put, and the rear seatbelts don't flap in the wind....

If the Adamesh is similar to the Mina Gallery version, which I'm familiar with, you may be able to pop off one of the black plastic end caps to slightly tighten the lock nut to make it more resistant to being folded during acceleration.

 

It has been mentioned before, but it is worth repeating. I have the beige Adamesh and though not an absolutely a perfect color match, it is so close that it looks like it is an OEM accessory if you have the Caramel interior.

 

My Adamesh folding joint is so stiff that it is not easy to fold down. Perhaps they have modified their production process. Overall, I think it is a great product well executed. And it looks as if it was made to match my Caramel interior.

 

If its like the Mina Gallery screen, you can pop off the small black end caps on one (or more?) sides of the pivoting point and slightly loosen the lock nut...the Mina Gallery version has nylon washers under the nut and relies on friction...but can be adjusted.

Don't know that this works for sure on the Adamesh version, but they sure look the same.

 

Just an additional note. When looking for these check out Welsh Enterprises at welshnet.com. They carry one for $325. I have had excellent results with other jag accessories and parts from them. Also, if you are ever around Steubenville, OH be sure to stop by there store (warehouse) they a a wonderful collection of classic jags there in his museum.

A bit of an old post I'm reading, but did the OEM actually work better for you?

 

Now that I've been using my Mina deflector for a couple months, I have to say I do like it. It cuts some wind, fits well (like OEM) and keeps the various bits I have in the back seats from blowing out of the car at highway speeds. Once I tightened the bolts under the plastic end-covers it stays put and doesn't blow down. Money well-spent, in my opinion.

Bought the Adamesh Ltd wind deflector, installed it in 3 minutes and makes quite a difference vs. no wind deflector. Cost is about $385.00 delivered to your door in 3 days or less from the UK as they use DHL Express. Ordered on Monday received on Wednesday at 10:02AM MST. Same as Mina, and so glad I bought the deflector. I highly suggest one for the XK or XKR. Mina or Adamesh Ltd will work.

 

Still not clear if the aftermarket (Adamesh or Mina) will be usable for taller (6'2") driver??? Also wondering if anyone has experience with the Windblox? I am aware of the straps, and not very excited about that.

 

I am 6' and feel that there would be very little difference between 6' or 6'2" in the car.

The "windblox" does not match the OEM wind deflector in style or function. To me the "windblox" is quite hokey, especially when you have to secure the darn thing with straps around the headrest. I am sure that after a period of time the straps secured around the headrest will eventually cause some wear to the headrest leather. It's just a piece of plexiglass. You could probably duplicate the "windblox" easily with a piece of plywood for about $20.00.....but who would want the cheap look of the plexiglass or plywood.

Just my .02 cents worth of opinion.

I'm a little over 6'. The Adamesh deflector for me. However I sit with seat back almost straight up and the seat as far back as it will go. There are still a couple of inches clearance between headrest (raised) and the deflector.

 

I'm 6'2" and switched from the Mina to the OEM deflector due to clearance issues with the headrest. Not sure if it ultimately mattered, but the screen on the Mina is rougher than the OEM, and you can go slightly further back with your set before hitting the OEM than the Mina screen. I was worried about wear on the headrest. Don't know if that's a valid worry or not.

I still can't go all the way back without hitting it, but have less concern about wear. When its down I have the seat all the way back for legroom. When its up, I move slightly forward. Its just enough more legroom than the Mina screen to be worth it to me.

Functionality-wise, both work well. The OEM is better made, feels more premium, but at twice the price, don't think its worth it unless you're in the same situation as I am. I've used the Adamesh and think its actually the same as the Mina.
