I wish I'd seen this earlier, I have 20" Sentas on my '07 and I feel every pebble on the road. I drove a friends XK with 19" wheels and it was infinitely smoother.

I put 20" sentas on mine and you can hardly feel the diff. I put one size larger on the rear' that is 1" taller & 1" wider , that gives me 1/2" more side wall , the fronts are as original size.
I think it must be your tires. Even my wife cant tell the diff. Bernie.

Maybe the difference is the smooth new road over by the guys place whereas I have rough roads and construction around mine. I have new Michelins' on the rear. I think the other car had Continentals. I think the 1" difference in the sidewall makes some difference. Maybe you have smooth roads too.

The rear axle track changed width when the E-Diff was introduced on the 5.0L cars. So the rear wheel offsets are different between the 4.2 & the 5.0.

Long story short the 4.2's run an ET31 or thereabouts, the 5.0's have ET49 or so. You can put 5.0 rears on a 4.2 with spacers to get the offset right, but if you put the 4.2 rears on a 5.0 they poke out further and you might have clearance issues...

I found out why I was getting such a rough ride with the Sentas. My front right tire was out of round. I couldn't understand why the ride on the 20's was so much rougher than the 19's on the car I test drove until I went to inspection where they found the wheel problem. All fixed now and it rides great (and the Sentas are very pretty).
