Default '01 XKR HID Xenon Kit Installation

I found this kit that will fit an '01 Jaguar XKR with Hologen lights, Low Beam: H1 Xenon HID Conversion Kit For Jaguar XKR 2001 With Halogen

Has anyone tried this kit and was the installation as easy as they say it is?

I want to make sure that the kit is an actual "plug and play" type as I do not want to alter the appearance at all around the headlamp assy. No holes, no visible outside wiring. Will the slim ballast fit inside the headlamp housing and will the xenon lamp wiring plug into the car's lamp wiring harness within the assy?

I show the car in JCNA Championship class and do not want any change to the originality of the car.

Is there a video on line for an '01 Jaguar XK installation that I can view?

I would call and ask for installation instructions, that should answer most of your questions.

+1 on getting instructions.

Kit includes mounting bracket. Could mean drilling holes.

I would be interested to know also. Would especially like to know if the conversion solves the 'low beam issue' and the 'horz light cutoff. The way it is now, the low beams only illuminate - maybe 50' up the road. I have to use the fogs, to get some light on the road to be able to see beyond the 50'.

Getting a little on in life, night vision seems to be getting less every year, especially when it is raining. So more low beam light, is what I am looking for.

So if you do the conversion, let us know how it turned out, what you think and if it was truly a 'plug-n-play'

I called the vendor today and was assured that in fact the HID Xenon Conversion Kit would plug into the existing wiring harness and the slimline ballast would fit inside the headlamp assy. I specifically asked that once installed no change to the original headlamp assy would be apparent. The rep told me to order the 55 watt kit with 60% more light than the 35 watt. Here is what I ordered.

7000881 Low Beam: H1 Xenon HID Conversion Kit For Jaguar XKR 2001 With Halogen
Options:
Temperature : 4300K-Pure White Warning Canceller : Do not add Ballasts Type : Slim 55w ballasts - 60% visibility increase (+$9.99) $89.98
(Not Taxable) 1 $89.98 Subtotal Amount : $89
I am having the bonnet and front fender of my XKR repainted and will have the entire headlamp assy removed from the car, so I should be able to install the kit without having to be hindered by body parts.

BillM I will keep you informed of my progress with pictures and perhaps video.

More to follow.

Done it many times, 100% improvement, everything fits inside but to do it nicely you have to remove the headlight and take it apart...

Hi Gents!
I would recommend 3M double sided adhesive sticky pads instead of drilling anything... They're extremely adhesive and heat resistant. They'll glue the slim ballast in place, and you'll have the option to remove them eventually once you're tired of it .
Below is a picture of the actual pad and link to an eBay auction should you be interested. My ...
Cheers!

I'm reviving this thread to see if anyone knows what brand kit is referenced in the original post. Looks like it's an old link that is not working.

Search eBay for HID Kit H1 6000K ...... DONT mention Jaguar you will pay more, the price will vary around $30 US but you will pay half that from China and lets face facts they are all made there. The majority are now a small type ballast so you can fit everything inside the lamp unit. I would not recommend fitting the ballast outside as they are not exactly waterproof, let alone that not having wires dangling outside does make everything look more OE....

If your thinking of replacing your headlights on your X100 then do it! I highly recommend updating your lighting. The difference is quite marked.

A bit of reading for you Franks XKR Story. - Page 299

Hope you find it useful.
