Issue with auto window feature
During some bitter cold weather here in Missouri I would go out and start my car but when I would leave it running and exit, it would lower the window a few inches on the driver side. When I would enter the car it did not raise the window and now it no longer performs the function where it lowered the window a little when I unlocked the car and then raised it when the door closed.
this a convertible XK8 2000 - Does anyone have any ideas on how to reset this?

Your windows are losing memory settings. This is the most usual sign of a marginal battery. You need to have the battery load tested.
To reset the windows:
Sitting in the car with doors closed press the button to take the window down.
Continue holding the button and listen for a faint click about 5 seconds after the window hits lowest point.
Then raise the window and again hold the button until you hear the click.
Then do the same for the passenger window.
The procedure will reset the windows until battery voltage gets low and then you will have to do it again.
Oh I almost forgot to mention, next time post your inquiries in the X100 forum. Not that many members drop by here and you will get a faster more accurate answer to problems from members who have like vehicles.

I had a similar issue recently and performed the same reset procedure listed above.
I would offer one possible caution when doing the reset. https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/x...-sense-196103/ Apparently my hard stop adjustment inside the door had moved a bit and it let the window go up too high when initially reset. This caused some very small splits on the very upper part of the large forward triangular window rubber seal due to the over-travel. It also caused dragging of the window glass when the door was opened as the drop down feature didn't drop enough to give clearance, also due to the over-travel caused by the mis-adjusted hard stop. I have no idea how common that issue may be as I have not run into it before on the board and I'm a bit of a Jag newbie. I would imagine the odds are yours will reset fine but I would check the alignment to make sure it returns to the right place. Oh, and I trickle charged my battery for a while (it had sat for a bit over a week in the garage) and haven't had it lose the settings since.
