Default 1997 XK8 Ignition Coil options

Hey all,

Been perusing the forums regarding replacement coils. I'm trying to swap mine all out for new ones as mine have almost 94k on them, and I've been working on getting fuel/air/spark delivery systems all refurbed (new injectors coming in today too. Already put in new fuel filter, new air filter, new plugs (also remanned ECU and ABS control module done ~6 months ago)).

My car is a 97, manufactured August 1996. Alldata is saying I need LHE1510AB, but when I google the PN, stuff comes up for the 96-97 vanden plas. Is this right?

I assume I have 2-pin coils, but can anyone recommend a good source or brand (or even better, link) for a set of coils? Don't want to pay the genuine OEM price, but don't want to short out on quality either. A lot of the links in previous forums have gone dead etc, and the I was unsure of the sticky.

They are the same 4.0 AJ26 engine. It was used in the XJ8 and the XK8. The part number is correct for the 2 pin coil. I have had to replace a couple of coils gone bad and simply for convenience go them from autozone. Usually around $100.00. You can go to www.sngbarratt.com a forum sponsor and they have aftermarket ignition for a bit less.

$40 for the aftermarket ones from sngbarratt is affordable enough for me. Thanks!

I'm not one to shy away from spending to maintain a Jaguar but that does seem extravagant. I replace a coil if it fails and wouldn't view it as a time elapsed or mileage service item.

Yeah, I don't disagree with you. I am partially trying to eliminate possibilities, especially after seeing Dave in VA's horror story. He had similar codes thrown and it turned out to be three bad coils that were coding (somehow) as a single-cylinder failure. He replaced injectors, got the ECU checked, swapped coils etc until he discovered that if he had just replaced all the coils (as he had originally planned), he'd have solved the problem a couple months early.

My symptoms are not as bad, but my codes have persisted through pretty much every other possibility. I've got a P0307 and P1316 and have swapped all of the driver's side bank coils into #7 to no avail (along with remanned ECU, injector swap, intake cleaning etc.). I don't expect it to be a magic fix, but at this point ~$200 is worth the diagnostic peace of mind to have new coils on that bank. Perhaps it might be the connector...? Still need to test the injector module tonight.

Also, was fiddling around last night with and discovered that my coils are actually LCA1510AB (Denso). Glad I got in there, otherwise I might've ordered the wrong ones. Strange...

And I discovered that the cover (NCA2570CA) is cracked. Found a solid one on eBay for $27. Need to get some spare screws for it (found some on Terry's Jag parts.)

Take it to someone that has a COP ignition tester, like the GTC 500, my brother came by the house with one, found 1 bad coil only under engine load (rev’d in drive Loaded against he brakes)....maybe the old plug check might work...I couldn’t do a wide open shut and netural coast in my neighborhood😀
