I am trying to pin down what I think is a problem with my vehicle battery. I replaced my battery with a new H8 AGM battery and have connected a Genius G3500 charger to make sure it is fully charged. It went through the steps to where the Green charge indicator is flashing and has not yet showed a solid Green indicator indicating full charge. Everything functions normally on the vehicle but I am concerned I might have parasitic drain. I checked the ignition key slot and it appears the "door" in the key slot is in the proper position. (See attached photo) To my knowledge the silver tab in the center of the ignition switch is as it should be. The key inserts
normally and pushes the door in and starts normally. Would like to get confirmation since I have read quite a bit about the "door".
Looks very similar to our 2006 XK8 key cylinder. For good measure I would lube it with a small amount of graphite powder. Good idea to do that several times per year to keep that key door working properly...
