2000 XK8 ABS wrong part and lights
I have had the abs fault light for two years but decided to make a weekend project and fix it. Using the hard fault shett I determined all sensors and wiring was ok. I then removed the brake lines from the abs module, and took the electronic module off, opened it up and repaired solder joints, reinstalled and had a low brake warning and abs fault on still. I cleared codes and it came back. Removed the electrical plug to the module and checked that it was seated properly anmd no bent pins. Then I got the warning that said incorrect part. I have disconnected the battery, removed the plug numerous time, cleaned the contacts. I am going to bleed the brakes and hopefully get rid of low brake fluid warning. But the incorrect part warning has me stumped. I did not have it the first time I took the plug off, but have it now. I have an Autek AL519 obdII tester but it does not do abs.
Thanks
Thanks
First question is 'What was the DTC that caused the brake fault??'
If your answer is 'I never checked the codes' then we are all GUESSING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
You might have damaged the module with your repair????
You might have a fault that has NOTHING to do with the module.
You might have discharged a capacitor or something in the module to 'forget' that it was configured to your car.
The ABS is a 'PROGRAMMABLE MODULE' and a new one needs to be configured with WDS, IDS, AUTOLOGIC etc.
I have also installed a 'repaired module' that sat on a shelf for several years and needed to be configured to the vehicle. (WRONG PART FITTED)
Probably 'FORGOT' the programming after years discharged.
The 'shotgun' repair procedure often works with common faults but.........................
I don't recommend opening the brake system to the atmosphere if the fluid lines can be bent slightly so bleeding is NOT required.
If you are not comfortable bending lines gradually without kinking, then removal might be better.

I did not pull codes but did check the sensors and harness, all ok. I pulled the module and the pins were fractured at the pump connector. I did not want to bend the brake lines and it was do for a brake flush anyway. I did not disconnect the battery when removing the plug, I think its just gone stupid and needs to be flashed. I had only an abs fault and low brake fluid after the first reinstall. I topped up the fluid and bled the lines at the pump but upon reconnection I had a hard fault of abs module. Will visit the dealer tomorrow and make an appointment for reflash, will let you know, and thanks for moving the post Steve.
So I had the Jaguar dealer put his #1 tech on it and he got the same codes I did. Cannot flash the memory, its plug and play from Jag. Bummer, anybody know where there is a used module. LNF2210AB. 2000 XK8 trac control and abs.

Well all fixed. I had severed two pins on the chip for the can bus and one end of an smd capacitor when I opened the case with a razor knife. Repaired this, I am an electronic technician as well as a mechanic, if I was really good I would not have cut the pins. Erased can bus code and I have abs and traction control and no lights.
Also found that fuel pump pressure was low, replaced the relay and pump pressure back up. A good day and I am happy
