2000 XK8 Premium sound question
Alright you audio buffs, I replaced the front speakers about a year ago and all was great for about 6 months. Since then when trying to play a cd, the LH front speakers cut out.
Everything works fine with tape & radio just cd that cuts out. It is not skipping as the RH side sound quality is perfect. I have checked the connections/cleaned and reseated and everything seems to be tight. I've printed the schematic and it looks as though the audio path is the same for all modes of operation.
Thoughts??

Hopefully someone else knows for real. But as I read your post my first thought was wondering if it's possible that (since it works in the other modes) the separate audio settings for the CD player function have flaked out somehow?
I seem to recall that on my '97 Radio, Cassette, & CD modes each have their own separate sound profile settings profiles stored (bass, treble, etc.).
You have probably already tried adjusting the fade & balance while playing a CD but maybe try an electrical hard reset of the entire car? (If you haven't already...)
It would be a big long shot but it's fairly easy to try.

It does sound like a loose connection somewhere or a faulty CD player. Maybe now is the time to splice into the CD player cables to add an input for a MP3 player/iPhone etc and that way find out if its the CD player at fault.
