2001 XK8 - dead after change of ABS unit
Dear all,
after owning my cat since 18 years I have my first serious issue. My mechanic has not further ideas and I hope for some help from the community.
Thanks in advance!
After having trouble with my ABS contol unit (error of falty ABS and ASR sometimes) I wanted to repair the unit. This has been carried out by an experienced company in germany.
But after replacing the repaired device (my own, not an swaped one) nothing works anymore. Everything is dead in the car. The mecjanic can not get any acces to other devises. Only error reports occur.
He measured all wiring and finds nothing broken.
Is anybody having a idea about the reason and a possible solution? I really appreciate!
Thanks again,
Thomas from Germany

What happens if you unplug the ABS unit? Does anything come back to life?
The ABS module is at one end of the CAN bus, with the main instrument pack and data connector at the other. A short in the ABS module (maybe a bent pin when reconnecting for example) could stop the entire CAN bus from working. Have a look at this thread which explains how to test the CAN bus with a multimeter - the CAN bus should measure 60 ohms across it (due to the pair of terminating resistors of 120 ohms at either end, one of which is in the ABS module):-
