2001 xk8 head gasket replacement, HELP!
Getting ready to do head gasket replacment on my 2001 xk8 coupe. Need help with a suggested sequence on procedure on what needs to be removed on exhaust manifolds and CATS ect.
1. Can exhaust manifolds be set aside in place or do they need to be removed out of engine bay.
2. Do I need to mess with the CATS
plan on using 4.2 gaskets along with a 4.0 gasket kit.
plan on using a new crank bolt.
has new chains and tensioners( within last 10,000) will take a look once I get inside.
has new octopus hose I just installed. New water pump and hoses.
any suggestions greatly appreciated, THANK YOU in advance.

The exhaust manifold comes off with the head.
Best if you download the Workshop Manual in pdf format via the stickies, as the procedures are in there. Navigate here:
https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/x...ts-data-29800/
..then do a page search (Ctrl-F on most browsers) for 'Workshop'. You need the 2nd Edition (1999).
You'll need a timing kit, and it's a good opportunity to replace the valley hoses if they're of any age.
edit: Apologies, those links are now dead. See attached snip from JTIS for the LHS. It assumes that you have already removed the timing cover, chains and cams. The manual complete is too large to attach.
