Hi,
Does anyone have an old hose that is leftover from a hose replacement that you are interested in selling? I only need about 7 feet of hose withone good end on it. I am trying to splice the hose on my car with a fitting I found (may or may not work) but the end of my hose is bad. If it works I will post the source for the fitting so repairing will be low cost. Let me know what you have. I think the hose needs to be from a1999 year model or newer to work.
Thanks,
Bernie

I dont have a fitting for you; but I do have a word of caution. If you try to fix this yourself, you should be advisedthe Jag hydraulic system working line pressure is well over 1500 psi., closer to 2000 psi. This high pressure requirement is much greater than early modelUS domestic convertible top systems, which operate in the range of 400-500 psi. So if you are using different tubes and fittings, at least be certain they arecapable of handling the aforementioned fluid pressures.
Also I would pressure test the new parts of your system before I installed and added fluid... for obvious reasons. Good Luck and keep us posted.

Great advice gordo, thats alot of pressure! I would never have guessed it was that great. I deal with water line pressures of 40-80 psi all day long...and I thought 80 was alot.
RE: 2002 xk8 convertible top hose
I received the fitting and it fits the hose perfectly. I think it will work as long as the white hose can take the pressure without the outer braiding as it had to be stripped back(just the white hose goes into the fitting.)
Is the 1500 to 2000 psi figure what someone has measured or did it come from Jag? I don't see how the original hose could handle that much pressure, but maybe am wrong.
If I can only find an old section of hose to buy (as per my original post), I can try this inexpensive fix out! Otherwise will have to give up on it and order a new set of hoses.
Thanks,
Bernie

The suppier of of Jag hoses said the hydraulic system operates at 110 Bar +/- 20.
