2002 XKR wrecked but workable?

Consider core support damage as well. Unless you can go and look at the car in person and check out everything yourself, it's no where near what he's asking. It's been on there a while too. I was looking at an 07 he had but I bought one not wrecked for as much as it would have cost me to fix his. I fixed and sold wrecks for years until the prices fell on them. They're only worth about 80% of loan or at least that's what the bank would loan on them at that time. I don't think they will loan crap on them now. So if you buy it, fix it and decide to sell it. You won't get your money back if you decide to sell it.

For what it's worth, when I was XKR shopping a month or two ago there was a non-wrecked red convertible XKR near me, with lower mileage for $14k.
I would have bought it myself, but I wanted a coupe this time around.
So considering the prices on these things lately, that is too much money.

I agree that $10K is way too much. From what I see here, you are looking at $2500 in parts of which some would be used, or $4K - $6K at a shop. There is more damage that I see here than the obvious missing parts, which are not cheap unto themselves. when you consider a salvaged title and the diminished value that comes with it, I would not pay more than $6K as Mish_Mash stated.

This car is worth about 4-5K at the salvage auction, so if they were marking it up 1-2K, it would be reasonable. But since they want to double their money, it becomes no longer cost effective.
On the other hand, local foreign car salvage, here in OH, has super nice 05 Aston Martin, with some side damage... not too bad, @ ~$20K. If I was in a little better time and money shape, I'd be all over it

I looked into buying a XK8 in New Jersey with a salvage title; it just needed a $1K rear bumper cover plus paint. This car has a $4K wreck, however it doesn't even have a title--just a California salvage certificate. Without a title, good luck on getting any car titled in any state. From past experience, I can promise you that the California DMV is impossible to deal with.
Where I live, an individual cannot purchase a car with a salvage title, repair the car with legitimately purchased parts (not stolen) and present it to the State properly repaired for a "reconditioned" title. They require a salvage dealer license, business insurance and a legitimate business location. Our local body shops don't even have salvage dealer licenses. Expect a "reconditioned" title to depreciate the car 40%-50%.
QUESTION: WHO IS DECIDING THAT SMALL FENDER BENDERS RATE TOTALING OUT ANY CAR?
If anyone wants to horse trade wrecked vehicles, I suggest you closely look online at your state's codes (laws). You've often got to jump through hoops.
It's just a shame that very slightly damaged cars are destined for the salvage yards because some clown makes a decision to total a perfectly fine car for a $1K-$4K wreck.

I agree with the question...
What a shame...she was a real beauty. Makes me want a black Vert to go with my Platinum Coupe. I could fix that car! But, as has been said..it wouldn't be worth the investment.
I'd pay $4k just for all the spare parts. My wheels have curb rash (previous owner) wish I could buy them.
The "Buy It Now" price is $10,900. However; at the bottom they say it is up for bid? There are no bids shown. Worth a low ball anyway.
