Welcome to the forum bradboucher,

I've moved your question from Jaguar Forums Advice / Feedback & Suggestion Center to XK8/XKR forum. Members here with the same model will be able to help.

When you get a minute, please follow this link New Member Area - Intro a MUST - Jaguar Forums - Jaguar Enthusiasts Forum to the New Member Area - Intro a MUST forum and post some info about yourself and your vehicle for all members to see.

In return you'll get a proper welcome and some useful advice about posting to the forum.

Graham

Not to be flippant, but if I knew future car values I would never have sold my E-type 30 years ago and I would have bought that Ferrari 330 I passed over around the same time.

No doubt these cars will eventually increase in price, but I would not recommend you buy one based on its investment value. It will be some time before they become investment grade, even the 'limited editions". Pristine or not, it will need attention and a cash outlay the first year (or two).

Buy it because you will love driving it and you enjoy tinkering with old cars. That's the value I get out of mine. And now that I think about it, that was true for the E-type as well.

Which is consistent with my philosophy that these cars are best owned by hobby mechanics.

If you are going to make a purchase as an investment you need a garage with a staff to dust it occasionally.

People who buy cars as an investment and garage them, never to drive them again, don't sit well with me.

Easy guys.
It is his first post and he is asking a valid question.

Look at the prices of several Jags at this weeks Mecum auction in Kissimme. Mecum.com register and you will be able to see the prices sold or the high offer.
It should give you a feel for prices. There was a Silverstone and a Limited edition for sale.

These car are aproaching their maximum depreciation values at 12-14 years of age. Low milleage will help some with the value today, but will drop like a rock with use. You will get your money's worth in the pleasure of driving it and then having to fix what goes wrong.

As far as appreciation or future value, who knows. I buy a lotto ticket twice a week.
