Default 2004 XKR Fuel filter location

Help! Can someone tell me where the fuel filter is on a 2004 XKR convertible? I have reviewed previous posts concerning XK8's. Is the XKR different? I can't seem to find a filter where previous posts relating to XK8's have indicated.

The service manual doesn't show an alternate location for the 4.2SC so I am not sure why you can't find it. Hopefully someone with a 4.2SC can chime in.

You probably need the same filter as my 2004 XK8. DIY details here.

Mine was visible through the left rear wheel.

Thanks. Your picture was very helpful. I found it! Now to change it! Apparently, my filter is the same as yours. I expected screw on fittings. The replacement filter from autozone has screw on fittings. I am not familar with the connection that is on these filters. How do you change? Special tool? Thanks again.

You depress the white plastic release tabs on either end of the fuel line connectors and then just pull the fuel lines off the fuel filter nozzles. Those tabs are much easier to see once you wipe the road grime off of the fuel line connectors....

I used a Motorcraft FG-986B fuel filter ordered from amazon.com for about $11. I remember having to wrap a couple of layers of duct tape around the new fuel filter body in order to make it fit snugly into its bracket....

I got a screw on filter also - it was the wrong one. The right one uses the quick connectors for the fuel lines. You push the little white tabs to get them off. Some people have managed to loosen the bracket that holds the filter (8mm) and slide the filter out the bottom, but I found taking the whole bracket off and then refitting the filter to the bracket easier (10mm nut). It's pretty tight quarters in there, and the quick connects take a little work and cleaning, but not too awful. I used the fuel filter mentioned in this thread -

Thanks for the info! I was ready to order a filter from rockauto. All of the filters shown for the Jaguar are threaded. Good thing I looked!

You can get one from rockauto. They have it - just not listed for our 2003+ cars.
