Default 2004 XKR for sale - knocks when driving over bumps

Owner admits the car makes a bump noise; dealer tells him it is probably a frozen shock. Here is the ebay ad.

The issues are as follows: the rear suspension knocks when you hit a bump. The dealer said that is probably is a frozen shock absorber. The windshield has a crack in the lower right corner. It does not affect the strength of the windshield and it is such that it will not spread.

I would get these things repaired but I am in my 60’s and have been laid off permanently from my work. Consequently, finances are tight and this 2nd car must be sold. My loss is your gain.
Wondering if that is a plausible explanation for the noise - I was thinking something more grim and expensive. Also, is that a stock interior color combo? Does not look it.

what would scare me here knowing what I do know about these cars. You are at that mileage time frame that if no main history is avail, you have no clue what has been worked on. At these miles you start seeing the suspension issues this one appears to have only up front. Many bushings up there that aint cheap and unless you can do the work yourself costly to have done. Cooling system maint also about do on this one also if not done.
I am alone in this thought but I would not mess with the XKR models. To much crap n these already to maintain and that baby is sitting right in the way. You want power go by an American muscle car. This car is about classy looks and cruzzin slow and smiling.

I had the bad shock valve rattle until replacing the rear shock. Seems it is a reasonably common problem. If you forgo the active shocks, they aren't even all that expensive to replace.

Interior is interesting, and I kind of like it, but I wonder how much of that is original. 2004 should have navigation as standard, so the dash has been changed out. Either that or someone special ordered a car with less than the standard features.

Under the bonnet looks a little rough too.

Man, that car look abused to me. The hood colour does not match (at least from looking at the photos) and how did that windshield crack get there? That's a lot of money for what could be an expensive experience.

Look at the AutoCheck Report - it looks like a Canadian spec car, lived its whole life there, and is probably still there (Champlain, NY is a border town).

MY 01 XKR had a bump knock in the front when I got it. Found power steering hose coupling leak had dripped on right sway bar bushing and ruined it (it seems no Brit rubber is oil resistant). Replaced the bushing and cut the coupling out and spliced the hose. Easy repair. Thanks Tom.

Correct. It is a Canadian spec car and is still registered in the province of Quebec. A US buyer would have to import it and go through the rigmarole of registering it in their own state.

Canadian cars are usually either the best or the worst available, all depending on whether the owner drove it or stored over the winter. My guess with the stated 145,000 KMs on the car at last check, it's been driven for at least a few winters.

It would be foolish to consider buying this car without a full inspection in person.

My car had a loud rear knock when I bought it. Upper shock bushing was gone and the Large washer hit the top of the mount on shock extension.

If it doesn't have CATS, new Bilsteins for $110/pair will fix this.
