2004 XKR Strange Key/Alarm Issue
My 2004 XKR is rarely used & had a brand new battery installed about 3 months ago as the old one wouldn't hold a charge anymore due to non-use & I've had it on a trickle charger recently to keep the battery topped up.
When I went to use the car the other day, I pressed the unlock button on the alarm keyfob which unlocked the door correctly, but when I opened the door, the alarm started to go.
I was able to successfully start the car, but the alarm still kept going!!
I started to panic as I then couldn't get the alarm to stop...pressing the keyfob did nothing, manually putting the key in the drivers door lock & turning it eventually stopped the alarm.
I've not had the courage to touch the car since as I'm petrified it will go off again & I won't be able to stop it easily.
I would have expected the alarm to stop when I started the car, but it didn't & I even had another alarm-type tone at one point in addition to the actual alarm.
Could it be that the keyfob is unlocking the car, but not deactivating the alarm? Maybe the new battery has something to do with it?
Help!!

There is a feature in WDS or IDS called 'LAST ALARM ACTIVATION' that you can access the SLCM for the logged info.
It will tell you what triggered the alarm. (door, boot, bonnet, ignition key, etc.)
Some countries have different options like 'glass breakage' that other markets don't have.
Don't know where you are so I can't help.
