I am new to the forum and wish I knew it existed with my two previous Jaguar XJ6s. I recently purchased a 2006 XK convertible and have lots of questions, because it did not come with the Owners Manual. The most pressing inquiry being that one of the primary headlamps occasionally blinks, but to this point stills operates 80% of the time. Can anybody tell me if this is a bulb (that I may be able to change), or does the entire headlamp assembly need to be replaced by a mechanic? Thank you in advance.

 

If you have Zenon HID the D1S bulb probably needs to be replaced. HIDs tend to sputter a bit and may change color towards red/yellow at the end of their lifespan. Don't wait too long because a bad bulb can take out the controller if it's not replaced.

Go with a name brand, as the cheap knock offs from Asia rarely last. Some advise changing bulbs in pairs because the other bulb is typically not going to last much longer.
