Default 2007 XK8 Coupe - Same bad radio reception

I drove a 2000 XK8 for 3 years and all during that time, the radio reception was not very good (metro Denver).

I sold that car and now have a beautiful new black/alum 2007 coupe and local radio stations that my wife's car pick up fine go in and out and have low levels of static.

Anybody else have this issue??

Do you have a satellite radio installed?

I do, but haven't activated it yet. I think that may be the only solution (or is that the problem?)

Well, if the satellite radio is on (even if it's not activated) it will cause your FM/AM reception to be bad.
Turn it off and the reception will improve.

Oooohhh...now that is a great hint. I hope I can figure out how to turn it off! I'm sure it's in the configuration screens.

Why not temp. plug an external antenna into the module with antenna and rear window defroster?

My 2002 XKR has terrible static on AM while driving but not while stopped or when going over a bump or hump in the road, drives me crazy.

There is a braided wire that connects the antenna in the trunk to the car's body. Remove it, clean the connections with some fine sandpaper and reattach it tightly. This may help.

Yeah, if sat radio is on, FM/AM reception will be awful. I have to turn Sirius off if I want to get FM/AM. This is not a Jaguar issue. I had the same thing with my Miata.

Default External antenna install

I would like to hook up an external antenna 2001 XKR but cannot find an adapter to work with the radio feed line in trunk.
I do not want to destroy existing connectors or factory antenna and do not want to rip out center console and radio just to plug in a Motorola jack from new antenna to the back of radio.
Anyone know how to connect an external antenna in the trunk area with existing feed cable?
The existing jacks are similar to a coaxal cable but smaller, it has a hard main copper wire (like coaxial) that plugs in to female plug and allows the signal to go to radio from factory antenna. The plug from antenna is the male end and the plug going to radio is the female end.

I need an adapter with the male Jaguar connector and a female Motorola plug.

Want to just plug in the external antenna Motorola jack into adapter cable to the existing cable from radio in trunk area, by the amp and CD player.

Anyone ever hook up a and/or have experience with "TuneTrapper" antenna?
I understand they are quality and handmade in Florida, hand tuned for FM but gets good AM signal as well. Thanks

Hello,
My 2001 xkr has exactly the same problem. If you figure it out, please let me know. I will do the same.
Yours, Ken
