+1 on that - when I fitted mine I lubricated the fittings with a little hydraulic fluid to make them less likely to snag and wind up on final tightening. I just checked the hoses I bought from TopHydraulics and they are stamped max.working pressure 9000psi, burst pressure 23000psi(they are reinforced with Kevlar) therefore any weak points have to be the crimp. Time will tell

Although I do agree with your caution when installing the hoses the hose has a tendency to flex along with the latch movement. I am attaching a link that best explains my findings.
