Thanks for reporting back Steve!

I've had a similar clunk and it drives me nuts too. I'll have to get these parts and have a go at it.

Fantastic results! Your persistence certainly paid off for you. Jaguar service departments could learn volumes if they would take the time to pay attention to this forum. Then again, I suppose our long-in-the-tooth XK8/XKR models are not much of a priority for them these days....

Thanks much for the very interesting info.

I can't quite picture the repair, so just to be sure ... It sounds from your post like this job can be done by a "regular" repair shop, not requiring a Jaguar specialist. Correct?

Hi, yes, a regular repair shop. I used a tire and service chain. They do your typical repairs on most cars, like cv joints, ps pumps, steering racks, oil changes etc. this was a fairly easy job for them. No special tools. I have an x pipe rather than a center muffler, so that likely helped. I think the center muffler does get in the way. It took the shop just over 1 hour.
