97 xk radio problem
I assume that by 'play CD' you mean actual music comes out of the speakers.
If the antenna is not extending check fuse 9 in the trunk fuse box. That's the best first guess from afar (about 3500 miles).
If the fuse is good, pull the right interior trunk cover off and with assistance verify that the antenna motor is operating when the radio is turned on. If operating and the antenna does not extend, replace the antenna (about a $20 DIY job), if not come back for additional advice.
Let us know how it goes.

Sounds like amplifier problem in addition to your antenna not extending. Check the fuse for that also. Amplifier is located in rear of car, above passenger wheel well, pull back carpet area...antenna back there too as testpoint described.
have checked number 9 fuse and its ok
the antenna and the amp seem to be on the same curcuit
i can't find the amp (if its got one). I believe i've got the standard sound system as above the cd changer there is is a gap where the hk amp should go (i presume)
thanks

Yup, I think you're right Benxk. Maybe the radio's amp tanked. That could be the reason why the antenna won't go up also (internal failur)...it might not be sending the signal to the antenna motor?
Try fuses 9 and 12 on the right side fascia panel. They both feed the radio. Fuse 5 on the left side feeds the body processor module which feed the radio. Check it also.
Fuse 18 in the trunk is for the trunk mounted amp, but you say you do not have one.
You haven't had any work done recently that may have affected a connector have you?
Beyond that, if all speakers went out at the same time it may, indeed, be the radio head unit.

The amp, if you have the premium system, will be installed in the rack on the right side of the trunk behind the side panel trim. Convertiable top pump on the top, amp in the middle, CD changer at the bottom.
Ben:
The standard system does not have an external amp. The speakers are fed directly from the radio/cd unit. The antenna is also controlled directly by the Radio/cd unit.
If you want the wiring diagram for your car, send me a PM with your Emaill addr. I will send it to you. It is a PDF file.
