98 transmission hard shift

Default 98 transmission hard shift
I have a 98 XK8 that has a very hard shift between gears on the first trip of the day, then operates normally for the rest of the day. Next day the same thing happens. Anyone have this problem. Thanks

Maybe a fluid/filter change might help??????????????????
Fluid gets 'gummy' and may cause things to get 'sticky' upon temp drop.

A new fluid/filter can't hurt. Cheap insurance.

The hard shift comes after the car has been driven for awhile. Then for the rest of the day it operates normally.
