Default 98 xk8 79k

i have a 98 xk8 with 79k. The engine has a knocking noise that seems to be intermitant. engine idles and runs smooth. as it warms up it seams to lose oil pressue. the car does not overheat. i have alot of automotive exp on american/asian cars, not so much on euro. i am hoping primary timing chain tensioner. any ideas. is there a common problem with thrust bearings on this engine design?

Good morning Basher and welcome to the forum. Just a couple of quick things before we get to your problem. If you can stop by the new member section and introduce yourself. You will find we are a friendly bunch and always willing to help. Secondly the correct area for the XK8 is the X100 form. You will get a lot more responses to your questions since everyone there is knowledgeable about the XK8.
Now to your lighting problem. You most likely have a lighting relay that has bit the dust and stuck closed. I have attached a word doc that shows where the relay is located. You can pull it and see if the lights turn off, but more importantly once you pull it swap it temporarily with a like relay and make sure the switch is working.
The relay would be my starting point. If swapping relays solves the problem then it is a bad relay. If it doesn't get back to us and we can help trouble shoot the lighting switch.

Broken or loose tensioners are known to have caused that kind of issue. Just do a search on oil pressure on this forum or on a browser search for Jaguar xk8 oil pressure.
