99. XK8. Convertible top issue
Guys,
Reading all the posts. Had my top down this a.m. Was out, stopped at a stop light to put it up. All looked fine. until the rear windows didn’t go up and I noticed “convertible not latched” with red light. This evening checked all fuses and used Allen wrench and found top was latched. Still no movement on anything and the light is still there. Any suggestions?
Ron

Hi Ron, Let me 2x check a couple of things:
Did your latch capture the roof and close completely? I've seen this happen when the latch closes just before the roof is captured.
When your say "no movement" I'm not sure if that means nothing moves when you push the roof down button. You may be using the phrase figuratively, just let us know.
Does the roof open / close button do anything?
Does your pump activate (can you hear it) if you push this button?
You didn't mention loosening the valve on the pump before you used the allen wrench.
Did this valve get loosened during any of your steps?
Well I'm getting ahead of my headlights now. Before we get into the valve, I think I need to understand the answers to above so I can choose the right questions to ask for next steps.
I had this same thing happen last month, but the latch up front closed before it could grasp the roof. Fixed it by loosening the valve, raising the latch with the allen wrench, then closing the same latch. Tightned up the valve and all was perfect again.
Sorry for all the questions, I bet your answers will help us help you out on this one.
