I have discussed this someplace and cannot find it in search....i have water in my headlight, it stay there.
i drilled a tiny hole thinking it would drain, not
i used a hair dryer to remove the water, ok...but it's back again, must be some sort of gasket or seal, don't have a clue what to look for.
lights work fine. any thoughts????
Extensively covered on here. I searched this forum (XK8 / XKR) and got 131 hits using keywords water, headlight. My 'solution' is to not fix it. I figure if water can get in it can get out via evaporation, and it does. But I only get a few drops in there after washing (use a gentle spray).

Is it a LEAK or CONDENSATION? Both are known issues.
A LEAK occurs when the seal between the headlamp lens (item 2) and the headlamp shell (item 1) breaks down allowing rainwater or wash water into the headlamp. A considerable volume can build up. The two parts of the headlamp must be separated and re-sealed.
CONDENSATION is an annoying issues that was never effectively resolved by Jaguar. It can be a simple as a displaced access cover (item 3) or a faulty seal on the cover but even with a good seal, some condensation is unavoidable in damp climates. There is a discussion and details of the drain tube moification in this thread:
For the occasional headlamp condensation issue, the best solution is to temporarily remove the oval-shaped plastic access cover and park the vehicle in direct sunlight for several hours. Induced evaporation automatically cures the problem. Been doing this with my wife's 2006 XK8 ever since we acquired it in February 2012....
In my case, I was able to solve this by putting tape over the seal between the headlight to body socket connection, such that water running off the hood/fender did not run into the headlight.

Even the drain modification won't cure it completely.

That clear plastic access window in diagram can leak. I found water in headlight after car sat out in rain - water came down the channel in the fender next to the hood/bonnet and flowed our the headlight unit. I popped off the access lid and mounted a hairdryer to blow over the access port - took several hours. Once dry I used to dryer to blow directly in then replaced cover. A doubled over sheet of kitchen aluminum/aluminium foil formed around the unit, held in place with a couple of pieces of duct/duck tape and problem solved.
