Default Active or passive ABS on 2004?

Hi you all
Writing from Sweden.
Tryig to help car owner on distance. And cannot get any info through my suscriptions on Alldata and Autodata.
He has fault code on one sensor. He bought a sensor and cannot eraze code.
My question is - did he get correct sensor from the general parts store?
Does the car have active or passive ABS system?
Anyone who can give me correct info?
Car VIN:
SAJDA42C852A43868

Thank you for your assistance. Owner is not too good in English

Regarding your question, Is this a Wheel Speed Sensor or other unnamed sensor?. On my 2003 XK8, the ABS is active when ignition on and moving. It requires no additional action or efforts other than engaging the brakes with brake pedal while moving..

If it was a wheel sensor, the code will not appear again once the car is driven. It also could be due to the connecting cable having a break from flexing, particularly in the front.

Maby I should have specified:
ABS sensor - are they hall effect sensors or of the active type of sensors, on this car?

I know from other car manufacturers and this year models - some car models - same car - can have either hall effect ABS sensors or active type sensors (that use either 12 Volts or 5 Volts referense). If you put a hall effect ABS sensor in a car that has active sensors - it wont work.
SOME, not all, manufacturers write this information in the service manual.
SOME, very few, after market sales, write the information when they sell the sensors. I have not found that info anywhere though. Only one ATE sensor has "passive sensor" written, on one site - but I dont know if that sensor is correct sensor.

Also - the same ABS sensor switched to the left side - sets a fault code. The new ABS sensor, that is. It sets fault code on both left and right.

The left hand original ABS sensor, when put on the right side - you can eraze the fault code. He has both Autel and Icarosoft.

Ok, do you guys have somewhere I can find OEM Service Manual for this car?

They're hall-effect sensors.

Look at this:
and this:

Manuals can be downloaded from the links in the stickies.

Thank you!!
I will send this to the owner (I think he will have easier to follow directions on a video, than my writing to him loooong texts) and watch myself.

Great I can find service manuals here!! Always good to have, we have had couple customers with new classic Jaguars, even if not at the moment.

There are two different types of sensors, depending on the model year. The 4 litre models 96-02 have ABS and two wire passive sensors. The 4.2 litre MY 2003 onwards have DSC and two wire active type sensors. The sensors are not interchangeable,
As they require a power supply, the active sensors cannot be tested in the simple way the passive ones can.

Well this one is the 4.2 liter.
For what I have seen, I think the ones they sell in parts store - are passive ones. Allthough, only the ATE sensor had the info online.
I have installed JTIS and could not find any info about type of sensors in there.
I have not got the car here - I am trying to help owner over SMS.... and havent managed to make him to test if there is voltage at the sensor connector. Beeing a kind of owner who tries to fix thing himself - it feels the OEM sensors will be too expensive for him to buy (that way, he would get the correct one right a way).

So, thank you!

Astromorg - I just got the call. ABS is fixed, with OEM sensor!
THANK YOU!
What he needed was the confirmation.
And I too have learned - I suspect that all cars and modells with a stability program, has active ABS?

"Power to the forums" =) And to those who know.
