Adamesh Wind Deflector

Adamesh Wind Deflector
I just bought one. It was only $275, including next day air Fedex delivery from England (I'm in the US). It's supposed to be here tomorrow by 10:30 AM! That just amazes me! One of the other vendors I looked at said the delivery time was 4 to 6 weeks. My wife isn't going to wait that long. Anyway, apparently I have to do a little bit of drilling to install it, so count on seeing some good installation pictures right here in this thread tomorrow evening or Thursday.

Yeah... I saw your tutorial, but I think the Adamesh deflector that I bought installs a little differently. I recall reading somewhere about how you have to poke some holes in the leather to install it. I guess I'll find out tomorrow. If mine installs differently I'll post a tutorial with pics.

Well, the Adamesh wind deflector is apparently identical to the one you got on eBay. I installed it in about an hour. I didn't take pics since it's the same as the one you have pictures of on your website. I'm a little disappointed by how far it sticks up. I think it would look best if the top of the wind deflector was even with the top of the windows, but it sticks up several inches above the windows. I installed it per the directions, but it seems like it might look better if the little angle pieces were flipped over and swapped from the right side to the left side. That would lower the top by 3-4 inches. I'm going to wait to let my wife ride in it this way, and then I'll flip the angle pieces and let her ride in it that way. If she likes it the low way I'll just leave it like that.
By the way... I'm in awe of the modern global economy. I ordered this thing from ENGLAND yesterday around 10:00 my time or 2:00 PM GMT. I got it this morning on the east coast of the US at 10:25 AM. It went from England to Memphis, then to Raleigh, then it was loaded on a truck and delivered to my house. And it only cost $275 including shipping. Amazing.

Well, the wife likes it, and that's what matters. I'm still going to try to flip the angle pieces to lower it. It just sticks up too high for my taste.
Also... I'm a little disappointed at how hard it is to remove and reinstall. It's not a big deal, since it's going to remain installed 95% of the time. But I was hoping it would be more like the deflector on the Porsche 911's. The have a little spring thingy that snaps into a receptacle in the side of the car. To remove it you just compress the spring and pull it right out. It takes 5 seconds. With this one you have to unscrew a thumbscrew on each side of the car.

I just flipped over the little angle brackets to lower the deflector. It looks soooooooo much better this way. I'll get some pics tomorrow in the light. I also took it for a drive to check the wind, and I didn't notice a difference between the "right" way and my alternative way. If anything, the low position seems to do a better job. In the normal position I think it sticks up so high that it actually catches the wind and directs some of it into the car. In the low position it's low enough that it just blocks the wind that wraps back around and comes forward through the seats.

wind deflector
Rev,I bought a wind deflector for the same reason,so the wife would be happy!
I went with the one from Jaguar, you have to put one hole in the side trim which is where the locks go to into, this is how it holds the deflector in place. There also a bracket on each side behind the rear upper seat. All you do is put the lower screen into the bracket and then put the key into the lock and push it into the receiving piece that is mounted into the side trim. This takes less then 2 minutes to do with one person, goes even quicker with two people.
The other reason I went with the deflector from Jaguar was its lower profile and how it fit behind the seats.Plus Adamesh was not widely promoted when I bought mine,it would have saved me over $500.00,but a happy wife is priceless!!
Sorry about the dust on the bracket,I thing you will notice is how dusty and dirty the screens get. I remove the deflector and wash and rinse it ever other time that I was the car.
The other thing that you will notice is how it keeps the interior of the car warm during these cool fall days with the top down
"If I agreed with you, we'd both be wrong."

The Jag deflector seems to stick up about the same amount as my Adamesh deflector does now that I reversed the two angle brackets. Doing that lowered my deflector about 3 inches, and it looks so much better that way. The way it was before the deflector was about even with the top of the windshield and it just looked goofy. It actually seemed to be catching wind and directing it down into the car. Because of that I took the left bracket and moved it to the right and moved the right bracket to the left. Then I had to move the attachment pieces on the deflector from one side to the other. That lowered the entire assembly by several inches.

The only problem now is that the top bar of the deflector slightly blocks my view out of the rear-view mirror. I don't mind that as much as I minded the deflector sticking up too high, so I left it in the low position.
