Default ADCM not working

Hi,

I have perhaps a difficult task ahead, and I wonder if you could guide me in the right direction.

I have replaced the ECU of my XK8 SC 2001, and so far so good, but the adaptive damping control module is always on "stiff" mode. I suppose the module is not receiving the right CAN bus messages from the ECU, and I need to figure what specific messages I need to forward, in order to work. I would also be happy with a "always soft" mode. By any chance could you help me with that?

Thanks

You probably want to check the electrical guide on jagrepair.com, but I believe this adaptive damping system is pretty much stand-alone, except for the ability to communicate diagnostics. In short, the "right" answer is to get a proper JLR code reader and have the module tell you what it thinks is wrong.

FWIW, the "top contender" among the issues seem to be that the wiring to the rear shocks somehow twists itself off the top of the shock and make the module default to stiff. There has also been occasional report of folks disconnecting the shocks while the car was on, and somehow blowing the power driver to those circuits, so take precautions.

If the module has no error, there is the possibility that the ECU needs to be re-configured to the specifics of your car, and be told there is an active adaptive damping module. This would be done with IDS running on a laptop, if at all necessary.

Best of luck, keep us posted.

First of all, thank you so much for your reply.

I connected the original ECU for checking some errors with OBD II, and I got:
C1435 Rear vertical accelerometer - circuit failure
The module looks fine to me, so I suspect wiring... Any ideas?

C1435

This is BT69, the connector on the module:

The electrical guide details all of this, Figure 06.3

Best of luck, keep us posted.

Hi,

I measured the voltage of the 20, 21 and 22 pin on the ADCM. The 22 is giving 0.7V, when it should be around 2.3-2.7V when inactive. I tried to feed the correct voltage with a power supply but the error is still there...

Check the red wire from acc meter pin 1 to pin 22 at the control module with a ohm meter, Check also for short to ground.
Check the Orange/yellow wire at pin 2 for ground, and the Blue wire at pin 3 for +12V
Cut and crossconnect the Blue wire at pin 21 and the Red wire at pin 22 on the control module and see if the error changes to Front vertical acceleration meter.
Change the Rear vertical acceleration meter and reconnect the Blue and Red wire.
