Default Aftermarket Sunroof?

Im thinking about having a sunroof installed in my 2002 XKR Coupe. Has anybody seen one or had one? Any thoughts or special precautions? Thanks

I have had it done to my XJS,it went well but I also went with an aftermarket installer that a couple of dealers recommended.Take your time and find out who the dealers in your city use for their aftermarket items.

Why would you want to pierce the lid on such a beautiful lady? Why do think it was not an option? Do you really want to replace that fine wood grain because of UV's, and all that leather, or in mycase cook the chrome dome yet even more.

My only concern would be about buying seals later. Beyond that, I say go with it.

Ken you are right about the seals,I needed to replace them on the XJS,but they were no longer availible from the sunroof manufacture. But the installer who did the sunroof in the first place was able to match the seal from a supplier of rubber trim and seals.

daddyo007, I thought about the sunroof breaking up the lines but I think it will be ok. As for the UVs, I would think that the convertibles would have more to worry about and I still have a little hair left on top

I was thinking the same thing about convertibles as well, which I have. The wood and leather are able to put up with a little UV without falling apart.Take you time picking the right sunroof, you should be able to find an electric one with a sunshade as well.

Uncle, but at 6'5 I can't affort to lose any headroom in the coupe. But you would think you end up with more headroom with any after market insert. Beside I just spent over two large getting the interior redone so my comments are a bit prejudice.

As my 6 year old son said many years ago you don't buy it because its cheap you buy it because it works. Translation, buy the good one.
