Am I missing a piece of carpet?
In the trunk there are various bits of carpet, but the vertical rear piece (hiding the fuel tank) seems very loose along the top edge. There is basically nothing holding it in place.
My question is: is there supposed to be a piece of carpet suspended horizontally below the parcel shelf around where the sub sits? There seem to be stud holes in the painted metal and I'm wondering if the carpet fell out at some point and was discarded or lost by the previous owner.

If you are - so am I.
I think we can safely say 'no'.

Frog,
I've had a closer look at the carpet today.
Refering to the Parts Manual JPG in my earlier post, the rear carpet (3) is held in place by vertical grooves in the side sections (1) and (5). There's no glue / velcro / clips at the top and it's sufficiently rigid to be self-supporting.
