I too have some strange noise sometime in my convertible.
It took me long time but I found them:
- inside the header rail panel (not sure of the name here), the top trim part of the windshield. I had a broken plastic clip
- central mirror, same here, one clip was broken

You could also check: seat rails, door panels (inside), seat belt clip
And it can also be something in the rear, one of the worst to find in my coupe was... the 3rd brake light! Broken by UV, got loose etc

I finally figured out the source of my squeak. The drivers side upper shock mount failed prematurely. The donut bushing seems to be in good shape but the strut is out of place. Perhaps the shims on the plate broke off.

I'm going to contact SNG Barratt about it, the part is less than two years old. The other part is still in good shape.

Congratulations on locating the squeak. A tiny, intermittent noise like that is like water torture. You can spend all you time in the car obsessing over it. The bright side, though, is seeing how many members jumped in to offer help. We all feel your pain.

Default Dash noise

giandanielxk8, When you pushed down in the fender did you hear the noise? I finally figured out the source of my squeak. The drivers side upper shock mount failed prematurely. The donut bushing seems to be in good shape but the strut is out of place. Perhaps the shims on the plate broke off.

The moderators have instructed to start a new thread instead of using someone else's post.

However, here's the answer to your problem... Front upper shock mounts.

Default The squeak is gone!

I'm happy and dancing, the squeak is gone!

giandanielxk8 gave a great tip when he said it ended up being a bushing. I never would have believed that. I would have bet it was from the dash. But after reading about the bushing idea, I woke up the next day and sprayed WD 40 on the top of the struts and turned the front wheels both ways and sprayed every bushing I saw. That was it and the squeak is gone! THANK YOU!

You know the WD-40 is just a temporary fix, right? As soon as your residual WD-40 evaporates, your car will get noisy again....

Lithium white grease spray. But sooner or later you're going to have to replace your worn-out bushings, and there's a bunch of them on these cars....

Here's a video where it can be heard.

I am not an expert, but I had an annoying squeak on my 2002 XK8 and it was the bushings on top of the front shocks.
