well...it's official...and after a few choice words when the car would not start after the ECU rebuild. It works like a champ now. I muttered a few words that I can't repeat here when the kat didn't start...at first. I had also left the charger on the battery but found out it doesn't charge well when unplugged (must have tripped over the extension cord late last night during the tear apart) and the battery was quickly dead. After it did not start right away I had resigned myself to the fact that I would either have to pull the ECU back out and start checking the new installed capacitors and tracing the circuits when low and behold the beast came alive....whats more, it is running as smooth as ever...man it just doesn't get any better than this....Just goes to show you that all you have to do is outlast the little devils and their gremlins...I have been chasing the rough engine for several months...man o man...I need a beer...ta ta

Oh, and by the way, don't be dissin' those Gremlins - that was my first car, and a good one it was!

Nice job guys, great detail on the repair and symptoms. This one qualifies for membership under the CEL Codes of our FAQ Sticky!

Kudos .. this can save alot of grief and sheckels, as the older models start to deteriorate ... just aging, heat, and vibration. I saw one place offering a "rebuild" for $650 plu $100 core charge for your MY.
