Antenna mast replacement instructions.
No practical alternative I know of will be as good a receiver as that big pole our cars came equipped with. But if your stations are very strong, this may not matter at all.
A google of car antennas will show you many options. Installation of any would probably be pretty simple ... a signal lead connection, and disconnecting the power from the current antenna's motor.
Somebody, Avos I think, reported recently on one he installed, but I can't seem to find that at the moment.

I'm thinking of buying the second alternative. Either one can be nicely hidden, but I like the reviews for tuned antenna rather than the powered one.
