Question Anyone near Charleston? 2001 XKR Silverstone @ Copart Salvage

First of all, this is NOT MY Silverstone, mine is still safe in Florida.

I was browsing some of the Jags listed in the Copart salvage auctions and my heart sank. Even though this is a high mileage example at 185k miles, it's a shame this one is sitting there: https://www.copart.com/lot/34895079

It appears it definitely took a shot in the right driver bumper cover and "mouth" bolster/bumper, but not sure how extensive. Obviously there could be underneath/frame damage if it ran over something. If I was closer I'd take a day trip to go check it out.

Not sure if we have anyone nearby to go see what's up with the vehicle? From what I can see in the pics (they can obviously be deceiving ) it looks cared for. It makes me sad to know this one "could" be lost if it's still in fixable shape.

Really the better question is how much damage does it have..... This kinda would make what it's worth easier to determine as it has been wrecked and totaled somehow.

Great!!! I was wondering who was nearby. It definitely says it's a future sale so not sure yet when it's going to be listed.

Was it totaled after being hit by a shopping cart? Seriously, it's barely scuffed (from the outside).

It appears to be light but you can definitely see the bumper gaps are off on passenger side and it broke the plastic of the middle bumper splitters.

My fear is that there is also some frame damage but who knows. If they listed this thing as a normal XKR it wouldn't be difficult to "total" with 185k miles.

Given the low market value of these cars, it wouldn't take much damage to total one. Hard to see anything really wrong with it, but who knows what's lurking under/behind the bumper. Looking forward to what Steve finds.

Absolutely - thanks for volunteering Steve! This one is "rare" by numbers and would hate if someone cut it up or something like that if it's small damage.

Also, if anyone ever sees anything in the Tampa area they need me to check out, definitely enjoy the expedition.

Sorry folks, unfortunately - did not to get to see this girl before she sold. I did go out last week, got there about 430 in the afternoon but they only allow inspections by members or approved inspector ($$$$$) and between the hours of 10 and 4 M-F. No inspection once it is up for auction.

FYI - for future reference here are their rules for inspection - no code readers or tools allowed on the lot. You can take pics. You cannot start or drive the car but a worker - if available - will start the car for you.

Thanks @sklimii , I appreciate the update. Hopefully someone saw the value of the car and decided to save it, and not cut it up for scrap parts. Good to know about the rules as well for future use. I browse from time to time even though my wife always asks "why are you looking at wrecked ones"

If someone shows up in a few weeks with a "new" Silverstone with questions on front end repairs we can arrive at a conclusion where they got it.

-Scott
