Could it happen? Since the v8 vantage sounds so good, and they are very similar engines. Could it be done?

I'm sure that physically this can be done, just replace Jag mufflers with AM mufflers. But the cost to you will be astronomical; and there is no evidence whatsoever presented that AM mufflers are particularly unique in design. They are just louder. Suggest you study/research the AM exhaust system through and through and figure out how to more or less duplicate it vis a vie individual aftermarket mufflers and resonators.

Hi Guys,

XKRacer has done this kind of thing. See the discussion here:

Bet a skilled exhaust modifier can mock up a pair of shorty headers using the stock manifolds to fabricate the flange then bend tubes from there.

Thanks XKRacer. Post header install: Was there a difference in performance and noise?

Those headers are a work of art.

are certainly interesting. As you can see the configuration is 4 into 2 into 1.
If I remember correctly, however, the intersections had to be between cylinders 1 and 3 then 2 and 4.
As you can see from the collectors of the Aston Martin V8.

In this case instead intersect the cylinders 1 and 2 and then 3 and 4.
but it is certainly better than those horrid original cast iron manifolds!

The left hand side doesn't look to good imho as no 7 an 8 fire one after another, so for better performance that should have been separated as a true 4 2 1 system.

Any HP figures of what can be gained for that amount?

I don't have any BHP figures to show at the moment and to be fair true performance headers are equal length and the problem with the XK is space, I do believe these headers also require bespoke made cats which cost another £1000, it is a lot for the gain that may be acquired

The last dynos I saw from huge equal length headers of a 4.0 XJR (probably indeed not possible on a XKR), only showed a gain of about 15 rwhp to my surprise, so I have no hopes on the headers you have shown. Are you going to do some dynos with these ?
