Right at three months to go until our proposed October 23rd meet-up at the North Carolina Transportation Museum in Spencer, North Carolina (see post no. 44 in this thread for the details)....

There were quite a few forum members indicating that they were planning to attend when the date was finalized more than four months ago. Time to begin putting the actual headcount together soon, especially for you folks who expect to book hotel rooms and stay overnight. Please indicate if you will be attending and if so, how many will be in your party. Thanks....

Still planning on it. Will most likely bring the motor home to stay in it, and Janet will drive the Jag.

My wife, Melody, and I will be there. Plan to drive over from Goldsboro on Friday afternoon, spend the night and attend the "gathering" on Sat. Will also stay Sat night and stop by the NC Zoo on Sun in route to home.
thanks for getting this organized and looking forward to meeting everyone.

Wayne and Jon continue to have frequent discussions regarding our October 23rd Jaguar Forums meetup at the North Carolina Transportation Museum in Spencer but given the continuously-worsening delta variant pandemic status around the country, the likelihood of us having to postpone our event for yet another year increases each week. An unrelated but very serious health issue which would create additional risk has also recently entered the equation (rest assured that the best possible medical care available is currently ongoing). The safety of all involved remains our top priority. We plan to make a final decision and announcement by the first week of September. Your patience and understanding is appreciated....

After much thought and deliberation regarding the continually-worsening pandemic situation both locally and nationally, we have decided to once again cancel our October 23rd Jaguar Forums meetup in Spencer. Breakthrough infections are on the rise, many of us are seniors, some are currently battling serious health issues unrelated to the pandemic, and we believe that cancelling our event is the only responsible and common-sense approach at this point in time....

Wayne and Jon both humbly appreciate the widespread interest this event has generated here on the forum and we are optimistic that in October 2022 we will all have a much safer opportunity to actually make this event happen. Thanks to all of you who have expressed an interest in both helping with and attending this event. Maybe next year....

Disappointed, of course, but agree it's the proper thing to do.

Wayne, Jon:
I agree that this postponement is probably for the best. Wishing the best of health and recovery for all.
In the meantime, I hope to work on my interior and learn to golf on a socially acceptable level.

A terrible turn of events but I think we all understand. I was looking forward to putting faces to the names. Thanks for the efforts. Just a suggestion, spring time is mighty nice in NC too. TM

Tom,

Springtime here in North Carolina is notorious for our terrible pollen season which now extends considerably longer than it did when I was a kid. Folks with allergies have a very difficult time. And the 90-degree days can begin showing up as early as late March. October is the best month of the year here for events such as ours....

Bummer...but not unexpected. Next year will be even bigger with more participating members.

Tom,

I've been thinking about this for the past few days as well. Wayne has made an exceptionally strong recovery from his very serious medical issues during the second half of 2021 but he is not quite back to full strength yet. I will talk with him sometime during the next week and see how he feels about it. October is definitely the best month to do something like this here in North Carolina so if Wayne green-lights a meet-up in Spencer for 2022, you can count on it being on an October weekend. Plus, that gives him six more months to continue his remarkable recovery. Stay tuned....

Thanks for the update. I may have missed the info about Wayne or in my ever increasing forgetfulness i lost that info. I'm very glad he is getting better. My brother is still in a care facility recovering from covid in early January. So I understand time needed for recovery. I wouldn't care if we kept it very casual as to not put too much on him and I just got to meet, say hello to so many that have helped so many more. TM

For what it's worth, I was in the area this past w/e for a motorcycle club get together in Helen, GA. Did a lot of riding in TN, NC, SC and GA. We had fantastic weather and I had really good time. What a cute little town and beautiful setting. Any chance I get to go to the area is a great opportunity I like to take advantage of. My tires on the bike are now shagged and I ordered new ones when I got home. Here's hoping for a fall return. Ride and drive safe, TM
