Default Auxilliary Belt Idler Pulley

Hi,

I need to replace my Auxilliary Belt Idler Pulley (super charger belt) as the bearings are on their way out so after buying part number C2C37064 I found the part was smaller than currently installed.

I spoke to SNG Barratt who said this is because I need to change the belt, mounting bracket and idler too, does this sound right?

Thanks in advance.

There several versions of XK8 and a MAKE,MODEL,YEAR would go a long way to get correct part numbers.

There were revisions to the drive belt system over the years.

TSBs are VIN specific for the supercharger drive.

I had the same problem on my 2000 XKR last year.
I just replaced the bearing in the original pulley instead.
The bearing is cheap and it is a 5 min job.

Thanks NorXJR.

Did you use a press or some wood, hammer and patience?

TSBs for the X100 belt issues.

Some info is VIN specific and all parts numbers might be superseded to the latest design?

I know when I worked at the dealer there was a different belt/pulley setup. The newer one was a DOUBLE SIDED polygroove belt/idler/tensioner setup.

Thanks for the really useful information Motor, the belt does not look warn nor does any contamination look obvious but I'm going to examine the brakets and check the belt looks correct and then change the bearing in what I think is the defective pulley.

thanks again both.

Well I ordered and changed the bearing but now the belt is loose which surprises me as I've only slacked the belt off.

Does anyone have any ideas as to why this could have happened?
