hello forum... does anybody know how to tell if you need ball joints... my uppers have a slit in them on both sides and i was told thats normal ?????? front end is tight tires are wearing evenly dosen't seem to have a problem when driving even at high speeds... confused a bit.................... any advice maybe i should just have it checked out................. theres no grease leaking out of anywere either ??? thanks

I guess its pretty tricky to tell if they are on their way out till they are well gone.
I couldn't tell that these two had any problem till I split them from the hub.

Split gaiters on ball joints is usually an instant MOT fail here in the UK which is why I had to change out my lower front ball joint a while back (there's a post on here somewhere). Once moisture can get in and the grease can get out, it's only a matter of time before corrosion causes the joint to fail, potentially catastrophically. If they were on my car, I would be planning to change them out pretty soon.
