BaT 2001 Silverstone
Dealer got a good deal at $10k. Bet he will be selling for more in a little while.

I followed that auction too. The winner got a great deal. A few cosmetics. The owner scrapped the CATS suspension I saw so that would need to get restored. Other than that the rest seemed minor.
Somewhat agree but that is still a good price for a base with 60k miles.
dfbender, we disagreed on the necessity of a CATS suspension on an XKR. Do you consider that specific car a GT or a sports car? I understand your perspective of "car as designed", but I just dont see the real benefit for the ultimate owner (not the dealer who won the auction) who will likely just cruise around with the occasional spirited acceleration.

I also consider it a GT, and one of the best ever created. The lines are thoroughly seductive. However, if my CATS failed, I might be inclined to replace with conventional struts simply because I dont hold this car to the same standard as a sports car/performance car. I probably would, but cant condemn (for lack of a better word) someone who prefers not to spend the money, especially when they intend to sell. Its a shame the X100 was never offered in a lightweight form with performance in mind.
Not a good condition example, but the price is very low, here in Italy for a Silverstone like that you must pay 2 or 3 times more! For a very good condition one even more! But what are the mechanical differences with a standard XKR over improved brakes and 20" wheels? Is there something else?
I would say it was in "average" condition. Just cosmetic: Badging, unique red-trimmed floormats, unique gearshift knob, red stitching, and the veneer was originally a green stained birdseye. Most have faded to flesh tone/milky as the sun took its toll. I think Jaguar took a page from Corvette and released a few "limited editions" to boost sales (X100, Silverstone, Portfolio in two color choices, and Victory edition). Looks like I wont be buying a used Jaguar in Italy anytime soon!
