Normally, I just go with the lowest cost for the highest power. However, I thought I was lucky to actually find a repacement battery for Kitty at Walmart. It's specifications exceeded the OEM's and it cost less than an alimony check () . It's been in the car for two years and 40,000 miles - no problems.

I got a Varta H3 100Ah recently from
www.battery4cars.co.uk

Battery is : VARTA Car Batteries by a leading UK Car Battery online supplier.

for £82.00 + delivery at £9.99 = total £91.99 which seemed like a very good deal.
Arrived quickly - well packed - included vent elbow - can recommend.
Cheers,
David.

Default Can i use an Optimate 4 charger

to charge my 1998 XK8 ?Optimate 4 Battery Charger - Demon Tweeks

I'm going to buy a new battery soon - is these a specific name or number for the properly vented battery - looks like the previous owner bought quite a cheap one.

Thanks for the help guys.

ok the battery i have in it now is a: Lion Battery looks like it's 88Ah
My guess is this is a general one and not the best for the car.
The full ref nos for it seems to be 017 88Ah EN 680cca
Lion 017 Car Battery 88Ah 680CCA 3 Year Warranty

any thoughts? Thanks.

To quote a post I made on another Jaguar Forum!

The OE battery for your XK8 is a VARTA made in Germany. Part Number C2D22312. Specification is 90Ah and 800 amp. Cost from Jaguar last month was £95.79 (less any discount your dealer may give) plus VAT.

Just Google [Jaguar + XK8 + Varta + battery] and it will return several UK suppliers.

They always come from a Jaguar Dealer charged and ready to fit. If you source from elsewhere, check before you buy. The adaptor for the vent is usually packed separately. There's a blanking plug to remove and the right angled vent adapter is then a push fit.

Things to consider with battery disconnection are:

1. radio code required (for UK vehicles)
2. reset window limit switches
3. fuel trim adaptations will automatically reset to default values but will 'relearn' as you drive

I realize this is an old thread. Nevertheless, I thought some may be interested in a current (2025) battery recommendation. After repeatedly having bad experiences (battery dying, not lasting for term of warranty) with the Duracell listed for my 2005 XKR, I decided to try the Bosch S6588B S6 Flat Plate AGM battery.

I've had it for a year and the difference is like night and day! Always very powerful cranking and no dying. Highly recommended!
