BBS Perseus Wheel Refurbishment
Hey all
I know there's plenty of threads here regarding the trim-ring replacement, and I've obtained 4 new rings, as the ones on the car when I bought it are all slightly scuffed or damaged.
However, around the center cap on 2 of the wheels, the finish is flaking off a bit. My question is on refurbishing the actual wheels themselves once they're apart. Anything special here, or can a normal alloy refinishing shop handle the job?
Also any other tips I should make my mechanic aware of when removing the wheels? He's a JLR master tech, so he's very familiar with the cars, but may not have done any BBS wheels in awhile.
Thanks

The Perseus split rim construction looks similar to the Sepangs I had on my last XK8.
Once taken apart, refinishing process for the alloy is the same as for one piece wheels. The problem is often removing the titanium bolts without shearing them or stripping the threads in the wheel. My local wheel refinishing specialists were happy to take on the work but at my risk if anything broke during the dismantling.

Chuck, when I replaced my trim rings, I got them from here : https://jagwheeltrims.co.uk/
For the refinishing, I sent a couple of my Sepang wheel faces off to be refinished to Wheel Wizard in Atlanta, GA (they came recommended from someone on here). It was easy shipping them because I had the faces separated from the barrels while replacing the trim rings. I think they charged around $125 per wheel, but that was back in 2018. They did a superb job and the refinished ones perfectly match the others.
