Default Best leather dye for xk8

I have a 2000 xk8 with ivory interior and have a spot on my right seat panel where the color is starting to wear and get thin. What is the best leather dye for an individual to apply themselves that will last?

Thank you

I'm going to catch a lot of flack for this mention, but I usually paint my leather with an enamel paint. I did my wife's S type passenger seat, which is tan colored, and it matched perfectly. I used a special order color to get that match from an auto paint store. I went from brown to black on a custom Harley and nobody has been able to notice it yet.

I an a big fan of Leathique and have done a couple full interior restorations with their products. Their phone support is also outstanding.

The product doesn't matter as much as the preparation. If you think you can use a rattle can to make it perfect, think again. You need to strip the leather down to where it looks like brown tanned hide again to get the correct finish.

I have learned a lot. Contact me if you want this to be a great restoration.

The two product ranges that have reported success in forum posts are Leatherique and Gliptone.

Several threads on this topic. Here's an example:

The perfectionists and those with seats damaged beyond recolouring have gone for replacement covers.

I'm going to do a strip back to bare leather repair on one of my seat bolsters in the next few days with Furniture Clinic products and will post up the results.

for anything big, screw the paint and buy new leather, it makes the car feel new again. And while you are at it, put in new carpet and you will love the results!!

I use a learher dye spray from Scratch Wizzard. They removed it from their web site due to color matching issues with stock numbers but if you find a little piece of trim you can send them, it's a spot-on color match.
They matched my XF dove gray perfectly, and the application was so easy. They have a good tutorial on YouTube as well. Takes minutes for it to dry and factory tough.
I even changed my entire interior from dove to black due to the dove always looking dingy. The black is absolutely factory and no one would even have a clue. It's been done for 4 months and not a single issue.
