Default Boot/trunk wont unlock with key.

Been out and tried my key in the boot/trunk lock. It fits and turns but nothing happens. It does not even feel like its contacting any mechanism. I am NOT using the green Valet key. Am I missing something?

Frankc. I thought someone with more knowledge / experience might post, but for what it's worth ...........
The key operated boot / trunk lock is mechanical - there are two linkages to the lock - one from the electrically operated solenoid, and the other from the key mechanism.
So ......... if you can lock / unlock the car with the remote and interior switch, I guess it follows that the linkage between the key mechanism and the lock is broken or has become detached in some way. Assuming you can open the boot / trunk "electrically" - it shouldn't be too difficult to track down the problem. It's quite possible that the whole mechanism is designed around a small piece of Jaguar plastic made of degradagunge like quite a lot of other bits in our otherwise lovely cars. !!
Cheers,
David.

It's probably just not been used enough so disassemble, clean and may be fine or you may find something dislodged. I'm unconvinced there's any plastic that can be to blame but let us know what you find.

Default disassembling

Thanks for the replies guys. I have sprayed and left overnight twice now and nothing is happening. Its not as though I am putting the key in and feeling resistance and its stuck. So I suspect its stuck in the half open postition.

Anyway how do you get the the works so to speak? Are there any videos etc to show me how to get to the mechanism?

I used to tackle these jobs head on then wisdom came with age and now I ask first if there is an easier way.
